Quilt Along & Contest

Hope everyone is doing well!  I have been working on our Quilt Along.  I am going to start posting the steps on September 1st.  The first step will be cutting and you will have plenty of time to pick your fabric out and cut your quilt out.  The second step will be posted October 1st and we will begin piecing.

The quilt is currently being quilted by one of my awesome, talented machine quilters, LeAnne Olson.  Can you see her hands holding the quilt top up?  I just finished getting it ready to go to her this weekend so that I could get it quilted and get you the supply list.  I will have the completed quilted quilt picture for you on the 1st of September.

Here is a picture of it before it's quilted:
closer view of star and sashing
Here's what you need:
Size:  54" x 68"
3 3/4 yards main light for background for blocks, sashing and outer border
12 fat quarters of dark fabrics for blocks, sashing and binding (I used reds)
3 1/2 yards backing
Fit to be Quarter 6.5 & Companion

Contest, contest, contest!!  If you noticed, I don't have a name for this quilt.  Leave a comment on your suggestion for a name and if I use it, I will send you the Fit to be Quarter 6.5 & Companion!  I will leave the contest open until next Wednesday so you have a full week to come up with a name.  Have fun!!

What else is new?!  You ask.  Well, I finally put 2 of my other new patterns on my website.
First, Tropical Nights:

Using fat quarters of batiks and one background, Tropical Nights is a great size at 69" x 81"
And, Frame Up:
Frame up those picture prints in this 66" x 78" lap quilt.  Fat quarter friendly.
Don't forget to come back on the 1st of September to pick up your first installment for the Quilt Along.  I am going to publish it the same way that I did the BOM.  I will have it on my website and leave it up for a month after we are done.  Once it's done, I will take it off my website.  The plan is to have 4 installments and take it off at the end of January.  It will overlap a month with the newest Block of the Month that starts January 1st.  Hope you guys join me for that too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Very pretty. Since the sashing looks like peppermint sticks I think Peppermint Stars would be a good name.

It reminds me of a candy cane and I see that others have had the same idea. Think I would call it Christmas Candy.

What a lovely quilt! I'd name it Breath of Peppermint or Peppermint Breeze. Can't wait to get started.

Darling quilt. Love the printed background. Thought of all the peppermint names, but they've been chosen. How about "Red and White Allover"

How about Northern Lights? I agree with all of thee candy cane references but done in different colors it reminds me of the twinkling Northern Lights. And Santa Claus does live in the North Pole.
